Ils sont magnifiques! What a treasure to find these French cast iron ball finials most likely from the turn of the century. The bases are open and meant to mount over a post, exactly like the ones outside this cedar shake cottage on the western shore in Maryland. Antique Iron Finials: Acquired September 2014

An amazing, vintage butcher block on an industrial steel base is a beautiful table in its own right. But when you dress it up, it's ready to entertain! Some pieces present themelves after they are on-location, like these two 1950s metal step-stools and antique tool box that a clever "DIYer" combined and converted into a cute porch table. Sometimes you have to ignore the obvious to be creative. A DC fine artist overlooked the labels "Flour, Sugar, Coffee and Tea" on these retro alumnium nesting tins to convert them into paintbrush storage containers. Now they should read "Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor and Graphite Dust: Acquired September 2014
